but still, i had to make time to watch a few of Naruto (only at episode 69 now ==') because it keeps me distracted. why do i need distraction - please don't ask. i don't have an answer for that. (i know, i know. there's no need to lecture me. i won't bother paying attention. it's almost study week now)
one character caught my attention. (oke, bear in mind that i'm pretty new at being a Naruto fan XD)
Nara Shikamaru ( 奈良シカマル )
from what i can gather (thank you http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Shikamaru_Nara ), Shikamaru was a lazy genin (it's like, the 1st level for any ninja who just left the academy) but has 'prodigious intelligence' which makes him a worthy opponent to pay attention to (although the question if he'll pay you any attention is still questionable).
from 9 rookie genins who took the chunin exam the first time (Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Shikamaru, Ino, Choji, Kiba, Hinata & Shino), only Shikamaru became chunin after that. not even;
Uzumaki Naruto (has a 9-tailed fox demon inside his body, immense stamina)
Uchiha Sasuke (has sharingan, Uchiha clan's kekkei genkai, special trait which enable him to see the opponent's future movements & copy them)
Aburame Shino (has special power over insects, Aburame clan's kekkei genkai)
Shikamaru's favourite saying is "too troublesome" (mendokusē) because his favourite pastimes are watching clouds and playing Japanese chess game (shogi, like old people). anything else considered "too troublesome". even picking up the pencil to answer the test when he was still in the academy. (haha!)Shikamaru is an important supporting character in the Naruto series. here's some background:
