Change

i used to think politics is cool. of course, at the time, my idea of 'politics' was a bunch of men in suits who works on important things like foreign affairs and gets to be inside the parliament building and gets to appear in front of the tv and etc. etc. so i liked it. i wanna be a politician someday. maybe after a few years as an active underling for a certain political party, i'll become a politician. 

as i grow older, i learned that politics is a dirty scene and politicians, at a lot of time, cannot help themselves but to succumb to the norm of the politics world. bribery, corruption, and many other bad things of which i'm not sure the correct terms for. if you ever spend any amount of time observing our local political scene, you'll notice it. 

and then i don't like politics anymore. i think i don't wanna become an apprentice anymore. 

but i seem to be the only one in the family to have a knack for speaking in public. people seem to expect it too (that i can speak in front of people - and good at it. which i doubt until now.)

and then i come across this Japanese series. 

this 10-episode series is about Asakura Keita, the disavowed son of a minister. one day, without warning, Keita's father and brother were involved in a plane crash which means Fukuoka, Keita's father area, needed a new representative. that's where Keita stepped in. he was disavowed, but he was a son of a politician after all. speaking publicly and convincingly was in his blood. 

then, Keita won the election in Fukuoka. after some very strong twist, somehow Keita was suddenly running for prime minister because he was running for Seiyu party leader (like in Malaysia, if one is the UMNO party leader, one is Malaysia's prime minister. capiche?) and sure enough, he won the election and became Japan's youngest prime minister in history. 

and Keita did a splendid job! (say, splendid! - The Final Continent, Jumpa Lhahiri) he looked into every matter very closely before signing into or anything. he would go to the tornado-affected place himself. he would go taste the ashes-covered cabbages to convince people that the cabbages are safe to be eaten. he'd make a wonderful prime minister.

pity that the old geezer Kanbayashi didn't think the same. sometime, you have to agree with Barney. (new is always better. -Barney, How I Met Your Mother)

i dream of the day Malaysia will have a politician like that. better yet, a PRIME MINISTER like that. yes, ideals are ideals because they are hard to be achieved but it's not impossible.

on another note, when will a local production make a movie about Malaysia's prime minister? (i mean, to touch on our royal Agong, like how they always does on Queen Elizabeth II, is a bit much and perhaps quite impossible)  i mean, a movie on our government should be oh-semm. 

wonder who should play DS Najib? Aaron Aziz too good looking wouldn't he be? haha=D
